Las Vegas 2024

FRONT COVER

Andy and Christine arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 2nd 2024, as the advanced party to warm up the town for the arrival of John, Joanne, Nick and Christine on the December 5th. We were all in Vegas to belatedly celebrate John’s 60th Birthday by going to see Shania Twain perform. Andy and Christine departed back to Texas on December 7th, whilst those that remained took a weekend trip North to see the amazing scenery in the Zion and Bryce canyon areas. The following pictures document the whole week as a memento of a great time.

Hot off the plane arriving in Vegas, Andy and Christine spent their first evening exploring Las Vegas Blvd (the strip). They started the evening having a sumptious meal in the Irish pub in the New York, New York hotel. They then saw the exceptional Cirque du Soleil show, Mad Apple.

The main attraction was well advertised.

Andy and Christine’s hotel room overlooked the amazing Sphere. The views were spectacular. One evening, we saw the Postcard From Earth show inside the Sphere, needless to say it was an exceptional visual experience.

Andy and Christine just love the Bellagio hotel and their associated fountains, which perform to popular music. They had a meal in their favorite restaurant, Jasmine, which overlook the fountains. Such a wonderful experience.

The gang arrived according to plan, and we enjoyed a first night drink in our hotel bar. I might add, that everything is VERY expensive in Vegas.

Although none of us spent much time gambling, there were many people that did, all day, every day!

On the Friday, to give Christine a rest (we had already walked 30 miles in four days getting around), Andy took the others on a tour of the highlights of Vegas. Joanne found roo love, embarassing an Australian cowboy, who was in town for the World Rodeo Championship.

Our first stop was the Venetian Hotel. A bizarre experience, seeing the gondalas floating around an indoor replica of Venice and the canals. Even the gondoliers exercised their vocal chords.

Needless to say that we ended up in “St Mark’s Square”, and had to have a cuppa to recuperate.

Our next stop was the Caesar's Palace Hotel, much like the Venetian, but Roman! All quite remarkable!

Once we had seen what the Romans had done for us, we wandered up to the Bellagio to meet up with Christine.

The Christmas Grotto was quite spectacular only spoilt by the millions of people also wanting to take a look.

When in Vegas, you have to have a go… Nick was the big winner, if I remember correctly he was up about $40. The rest of us lost...

After a lovely meal at Gorden Ramsay’s Burgr restaurant we were mostly all pleased to be ready for the main event. The arena was custom built for Shania Twain, with everyone having a pretty good view. She played all of her hits, and put on a very professional performance.

On our last morning together as a group, we had a superb breakfast at the Paris hotel, overlooking the Strip. Afterwards, we posed for photos in front of the Bellagio Hotel. Christine and Andy then said farewell and headed back to Houston, completely exhausted! Nick, Christine, John and Joe headed North...
