The highlight of the golfing year was a trip to the Pinehurst resort in North Carolina. Andy, Nick, Lou and Jeff battled it our over four days, playing for their version of the Ryder Cup. Although the matches were halved over the course of the week, Europe retained the trophy.

2025 saw the closure of our home course, Cypress Lakes golf club, which was sold for housing development for $40 million. Andy's last round was on June 30th, and, after a dodgy start, was fortunate enough to shoot an 82, or 36 stableford points.

Overall, 2025 was a decent year of golf for Andy, despite issues with his knee replacement, and the ongoing arthritis pain in his shoulder. He played over 100 rounds during the year. Where there is a will, there is a way! His handicap drifted up from 8.4 to 10.3 which was a llittle disappointing.

He still plays bi-weekly with John, Nick and Les, generally alternating between Greatwood golf club and River Pointe golf club. We have also played Memorial, Cinco Ranch, and Windrose golf clubs. Nick got a hole in one on the 7th at Greatwood. John won the Stableford competition. Andy won the matchplay, although we only managed four games owing to John’s injuries.

Andy continues to play with Corky and Micky once a week at either Houston National or Sterling golf clubs. We still enjoy a quick shot of whisky for each birdie achieved. Thankfully we are still not that good!

Once a month, when time permits, Andy plays with the Stephen F. Austin guys out at Brenham golf club, which has been a suitable replacement for Weston Lakes golf club, which had become too expensive. It is a nice day out, and great to catch up with all of the characters.

Andy also gets to play each time he returns to England with Trevor, Ian and Rob.
